In growing toenail ( Excision )- Ingrown toenail excision, also known as onychocryptosis surgery or ingrown toenail removal, is a surgical procedure performed to treat an ingrown toenail. An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of the toenail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, swelling, and potential infection.

Nail and tissue removal: The surgeon carefully removes the portion of the nail that is causing the problem. This may involve removing a portion of the nail’s edge or the entire nail, depending on the severity of the ingrown toenail. The surrounding inflamed tissue may also be excised.

Recovery after ingrown toenail excision is typically relatively quick. Most patients can resume regular activities shortly after the procedure, although it’s important to follow the surgeon’s instructions for post-operative care and any restrictions on activities.

Complications from ingrown toenail excision are rare but can include infection, bleeding, recurrence of the ingrown toenail, and nail deformity.
